Walk This Way

It’s Matting Season; are you ready?

October is here and while this week's warm weather might have you thinking of patios and sunglasses, what you should really be thinking about is your WINTER MATTING.

When the wet and snowy weather hits, matting is your FIRST LINE OF DEFENCE in protecting your residents and guests from slip-and-fall hazards and your floors from the damaging impact of the elements.

So if you haven’t already done so, now is the time to remove your matting from storage, have it inspected for damage and wear and scheduled for re-installation.  If it’s time for new matting, then now is the time to get that all lined up.

I am often asked about the features of matting, maintenance & care and the differences between brands.

MATTING 101:

  • Material Construction:  100% ASOTA, Solution Dyed Polypropylene fibres
  • Permanently anti-static
  • Holds approximately 7 litres of water per square metre  (in super / supreme formats)
  • Impervious to salt and de-icers
  • Spike and Skate resistant ( in super/supreme format).

Maintenance and Care:

  • Regular vacuuming
  • Periodic hot water extraction aka steam cleaning.

Uses:

  • Indoor and Outdoor
  • Front entrances/vestibules
  • Lobbies, elevators lobbies and cabs.
  • Mail room areas and Parking entrances

Benefits:

  • Traps dirt, snow, salt from foot traffic; thus reducing risk of slip and fall accidents
  • Reduces housekeeping costs
  • Reduces wear and tear on natural stone and all grout lines from tracked dirt, sand, snow and salt.

In addition to the above benefits of matting, any designer will tell you that your matting, while HUGELY FUNCTIONAL, can add to the appeal, aesthetic and style of your common spaces via the wide selection of colours, optional borders and customization through laser cut logos and graphics.  Your matting can and should be a reflection of the character and individuality of the building and residents and patrons it protects.

Don’t hesitate to contact us should you have any questions regarding Matting or for a no-obligation quote or consultation.  My team and I are always at your service.

Walk This Way and now you can Talk this Way!
